TIRAMISU final field demo succesfully took place in Meerdael, Belgium

On the 24th of September 2015, the final field trials of the Mine Action tools developed by the members of the two European FP7 Projects TIRAMISU and D-BOX – took place at Meerdael, which is home to DOVO-SEDEE (the Belgian Explosive Removal Unit) in presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium.

The theme of the final demonstration was “The Ottawa and Oslo Convention: Demonstration of new technologies for Mine Action”, reflecting the long struggle to relieve our world from the plague of disseminated unexploded devices, landmines but also cluster munitions.

TIRAMISU, an FP7 research project coordinated by the Royal Military Academy (RMA) and which aims to provide the Mine Action community with a toolbox to assist in addressing the many issues related to Humanitarian Demining is one of the EU’s answers to this very plague – just as D-BOX, led by Airbus Defence & Space, is.
